The Vatican has not yet completed its review of the revised statutes of Opus Dei. This was announced in a press communiqué issued by Opus Dei on Monday following an audience between Pope Leo XIV and Prelate Fernando Ocáriz (81). It is, to those who are not in clerical state, odd that Pope Leo and the Curia don't seek compromise. Certainly, if the Church can be "already one" with the Anglicans and have fraternity with Muslims, it can accept the rite used for ages. From the inside, however, it has nothing to do with the rite. Excommunication – unlikely here's why It is my thought that the Vatican will be greatly upset at the SSPX and verbally assault that group. However, after great consideration they will not excommunicate them. In doing so, they will impede their hidden objective of having female priests.
