Bishop Strickland about the Traditional Latin Mass and the conciliar church
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
For many Catholics, the traditional Roman liturgy is not merely in danger of being taken away. It has already been taken away. Diocesan celebrations have been suppressed, parishes have been forbidden to continue them, and faithful families have been told that the Mass which nourished generations of saints is no longer available to them. Some now drive long distances to find it. Others have no diocesan celebration within reach at all.
Where communities such as the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter remain, the faithful are grateful. These priests have sought to preserve the traditional liturgy while maintaining a recognized canonical relationship with Rome. But precisely because they continue to submit to Roman authority, their people still live with the possibility that permissions may be narrowed, communities displaced, or the Mass restricted again. They know that what is permitted …More

How One Man’s Quest for a Musketeer’s Bones Got Him Locked Up
nytimes.com/…/europe/wim-dijkman-musketeer-bones-…
A secret archaeological dig inside a Dutch church has led to drama worthy of Alexandre Dumas. Did Wim Dijkman really find the bones of the fourth musketeer? We may never know.

Wim Dijkman was in Munich the first time I talked to him, in possibly illicit possession of three possibly ancient bones.
The remains — two teeth, one humerus — may or may not belong to what is left of D’Artagnan, the French historical figure upon whom Alexandre Dumas based the main character in “The Three Musketeers.”
They are part of a skeleton Mr. Dijkman and his friends unearthed in an old church near Maastricht, in the Netherlands, earlier this year. To the city’s dismay, they did so without permits, and largely in secret: Even church parishioners weren’t fully informed about …More

Leo XIV wants to beatify controversial Aids-Priest Don Luigi.
Leo XIV has opened the way towards the beatification of Luigi Di Liegro (1928–1997), a Roman priest who wanted to be close to people dying of AIDS. The pope made the announcement on Friday during the diocesan assembly in the Basilica of St John Lateran.
He said he had “gladly approved” the steps necessary to begin the diocesan investigation into Di Liegro’s life, virtues and reputation for holiness.
The most controversial episode of Di Liegro’s ministry came in 1988. As head of Caritas Rome, he insisted on opening a home for people with AIDS at Villa Glori in Parioli — an affluent Roman neighbourhood.
It was the height of the AIDS panic.
HIV was associated particularly with drug users and homosexuals.
Residents protested. More than a thousand signatures were reportedly collected against the home.
Rome temporarily delayed the opening; demonstrators marched against the project, while scouts, environmentalists and others organised …More

In 1947, Italian nurse and postulant Pierina Gilli reported a series of apparitions of the Blessed Virgin in Montichiari, Italy. In one, Gilli said Mary appeared with three swords piercing her heart, symbolizing the suffering and spiritual failures among priests and religious. In a later vision, the swords were replaced by three roses — white, red and yellow — representing prayer, sacrifice and penance. She reported another series of apparitions in 1966 in nearby Fontanelle.
In July 2024, the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith granted a nihil obstat to the devotion associated with Gilli’s experiences and messages, allowing it to be promoted publicly while stopping short of declaring the reported apparitions supernatural.

Mitch McConnell Mystery
Joanna Coles and Daily Beast executive editor Hugh Dougherty discuss Mitch McConnell’s mysterious return to the Senate after 92 days away, the disturbing questions surrounding his health, and the obscure Senate rules that may be keeping his condition out of public view. They examine the growing cracks in the Republican Party as longtime conservatives turn against Donald Trump, from Karl Rove’s decision to back a Democrat in Texas to the political backlash over immigration enforcement in Florida and beyond. Plus, ICE’s leadership chaos, the fallout from Pete Hegseth’s tumultuous tenure at the Pentagon, and the growing influence of his wife, Jennifer, who has earned some very revealing nicknames inside the department. And as questions mount about Trump’s own health and the strange bulge spotted beneath his jacket, Joanna and Hugh take a closer look at the White House’s refusal to provide answers, the administration’s attacks on The Daily Beast, and what may be …More

Gregory Baum, a Jewish convert to Catholicism and Augustinian priest, authored the first draft of Nostra Aetate as a theological expert at Vatican II. In his 2016 memoir, Baum revealed he had kept his homosexual relationships private during the Council, saying disclosure "would have reduced my influence as a critical theologian."
Baum left the priesthood in 1974 and became an outspoken critic of Humanae Vitae, reportedly playing a significant role in the Canadian bishops' 1968 "Winnipeg Statement," which opened the door to dissent from Church teaching on contraception.
He later called himself the first Catholic theologian to publicly defend homosexual relationships and remained a prominent advocate for liberation theology.

Profile
Pagan Roman general in the army of the emperor Trajan. Converted to Christianity following a hunting trip during which he saw a glowing cross between the antlers of a stag, after which he received a prophecy that he would suffer for Christ. He was baptized with his wife, Saint Theopistes of Rome and two sons, Saint Agapitus of Rome and Saint Theopistus of Rome, and given the name Eustachius.
Denounced as a Christian, he lost his property, was reduced to abject poverty, and Roman authorities took his wife and children. However, being a capable general, he was recalled to duty by Trajan to help repel barbarians from Rome, which he did. He and his family were reunited with the expectation they would sacrifice to idols in thanks for a military victory. When they refused, an enraged Hadrian ordered them thrown to the lions; the big …More

Märtyrer, Nothelfer

† 118 (?) in Rom

‘The Book of Questions’ – St. Birgitta of Sweden – Interrogation 13, Revelation 9, pages 34-35; ‘Christ warns her to conform herself to that same Spirit.…’
[Saint Bridget of Sweden – XIV Century AD; born: Uppland, Sweden/died: Rome, Papal States; Patron Saint of Europe, Widow, Mystic, Spiritual Writer]

Revelation 9 ~ The ninth revelation in the Book of Questions in which Christ speaks to his bride, blessed Bridget, and shows her how she has already been rescued and delivered from the house of the world and of vices, and that she has already been brought to live in the mansion of the Holy Spirit. The Son speaks to the bride: ”You are a woman who was raised in a poor home and entered the company of the great.

Correct. Our Lady did not intervene for the Crusades to take over the Holy Land (with the Blessed Sacrament already present there). Rather she intervened to aid and protect the Crusaders from Muslim invaders (self defense).
