Not Disturbing the Political Powers Behind France’s Euthanasia Law? Bishop Emeritus Dominique Rey told TribuneChrétienne.com of his one regret about Leo XIV’s September 25–28 visit to France: the Pope’s “very busy program” leaves no time to visit people at the end of life or palliative care units. Yet Leo XIV’s schedule includes several other meetings, including one with survivors of clergy sexual abuse. Meanwhile, France is close to legalizing euthanasia.
Monseigneur Dominique Rey : "Nous aurions souhaité une rencontre avec des personnes en fin de vie"

The Canaanite Woman and a "miracle-snatch" faith... Liturgy of August 16 - 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time A faith that goes against the grain, capable of overcoming all stereotypes... A bold, courageous faith, capable of "dismantling" with the greater power of God's Love, the dictatorship of one's own "pride"... A sure, unshakable faith in the omnipotence of God... A faith capable of "touching" the Heart of God, to the point of moving Him... Here it is the incredible, yet unexpected, "lesson" that comes to us from the Canaanite Woman who manages to "snatch" so to speak, a miracle from Jesus. As Matthew reports: The Canaanite Woman fell down before Jesus and said to Him, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely tormented by a demon." Jesus answered her, ""It is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs." She said, "Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters." Then Jesus said to her in reply, "O …More

Trump is being sued over his Truth Social paywall The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in federal court in Manhattan, alleges the paid early-access service violates the First and Fifth Amendments MeidasTouch host Ben Meiselas reports on Donald Trump and Natalie Harp getting sued together in a major federal lawsuit.. The complaint names Trump in his official capacity, along with White House Executive Assistant Natalie Harp, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Daniel Scavino, the Executive Office of the President, and the White House Office as defendants. The plaintiffs argue that the arrangement — in which paying subscribers receive the president's official announcements before the general public — violates the First Amendment's guarantee of equal access to a president's public statements and the Fifth Amendment's prohibition on unreasonable conditions for government benefits. "This scheme is profoundly corrupt," the complaint says. "The President stands to gain financially by giving 'market-moving …More
Worse than Germany: Cardinal Tarcisio Kikuchi of Tokyo has welcomed the Japanese government's plan to promote "understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity", which was approved on 16 June. The plan involves education and "awareness initiatives" in government, schools, and workplaces, as well as measures to combat "discrimination" against homosexuals. In an interview with UcaNews.com on June 17, Cardinal Kikuchi described the government’s decision as “meaningful”, stating that it had clearly articulated a policy intended to foster a "deeper understanding of sexual minorities". And: "An inclusive community that welcomes everyone is not just an attitude; it is the first step towards building the world that God calls us to create." The cardinal's latest remarks are consistent with his longstanding homosex activism. Tokyo Archdiocese has organised monthly homosexual Eucharists. In 2023, he contributed to the book LGBT and Christianity, promoted by the 'Catholic HIV/AIDS Desk'. …More
Mónica Astorga spent almost 40 years as a Discalced Carmelite nun in Argentina and became prioress of her convent in Neuquén. She became internationally known for her work with transvestites because of Pope Francis' encouragement. Astorga meanwhile left the convent and trained in hairdressing. The Vatican formally accepted her departure from the Discalced Carmelites in 2024. She “still” considers herself a believer – yet without attending a Eucharist regularly. Long Connection with Bergoglio Her connection with Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the future Pope Francis, began much earlier. Astorga says she met him when he was a Jesuit in Buenos Aires in 1987, nearly two decades before she began working with transvestites. She later described Bergoglio's support for her as “unconditional.” Beginning Her Work with Transvestites Astorga began assisting transvestites in 2006, after one such guy sought help in a parish. Her clientele included prostitutes, people living with HIV, and impoverished or …More

Iowa has a cancer problem: Rob Sand, the state auditor, is running for governor with a slogan “Costs, Corruption and Cancer nytimes.com/2026/08/10/opinion/rob-sand-democrats… On the margins of a high school gymnasium, I talked to a young man whose father died of leukemia that he attributes to herbicides or pesticides. On local radio, a woman described spending thousands of dollars on a home system to filter nitrates from her drinking water. Rob Sand, the state auditor, is running for governor with a slogan “Costs, Corruption and Cancer,” and I followed him to several town halls recently. In 2007, I’d spent months idealistically canvassing the state for Barack Obama’s caucus campaign. Now, well into middle age and the Trump era, I still recognized the neighborliness of the people and postcard Americana of the venues. But in addition to the sweltering heat, there was a heaviness in the political air. Young people are moving away. Crops are being replanted on account of tariffs. More Iowans …More
“Piracy and robbery” against Russian maritime trade will not go unanswered, the president has said They left out the two trump stole. Russia could seize ships carrying Western cargo in retaliation for similar actions against Russian maritime trade, President Vladimir Putin has warned. There have been several incidents in recent months in which Western militaries have seized vessels that their governments accused of being part of a so-called Russian ‘shadow fleet’. Putin warned on Wednesday during a meeting with Pacific Fleet commanders that Moscow could take retaliatory measures wherever it deemed necessary. “Some nations are violating the Law of the Sea by trying to restrict the movement of our civilian traders. They recently came up with the idea of seizing our ships and selling off our plundered property. This is certainly nothing short of piracy and robbery,” Putin said. “If such a policy is implemented in practice, we will be forced to take mirror responses. And not necessarily in …More
Bishop Strickland has a doubt about a possible continuity between the Concile of Vatican 2 and St Pius X magisterium : " If there is continuity, it should be possible to demonstrate it clearly."
Bishop Strickland about modernism within the Church of Leo XIV My dear friends in Christ, Thank you for joining me today. There are some words that once occupied a central place in the life of the Catholic Church but are now seldom heard, and I want to talk about one of those words today. The word is “modernism.” Ask the average Catholic today what modernism is, and many will not know how to answer. Ask when they last heard a sermon about it, and many would say, “Never.” Yet there was a time when the Church regarded modernism as such a grave danger that Pope St. Pius X devoted an entire encyclical to exposing it. In 1907, in Pascendi Dominici Gregis, he called modernism “the synthesis of all heresies.” Those are extraordinary words. Popes do not use language like that lightly. If St. Pius X believed modernism was the synthesis of all heresies, then a question naturally follows: What happened? Did modernism simply disappear? Or have we reached a point where the Church’s own warnings …More

Chapter XXI ~ Diversity of the Pains — Blasio Raised from the Dead by St. Bernardine — Venerable Prances of Pampeluna and the Pen of Pire — St. Corpreus and King Malachy. The celebrated Blasio Massei, who was raised from the dead by St. Bernardine of Sienna, saw that there was great diversity in the pains of Purgatory. The account of this miracle is given at length in the Acta Sanctorum (Appendix, May 20). A short time after the canonisation of St. Bernardine of Sienna, there died at Cascia, in the kingdom of Naples, a child aged eleven years, named Blasio Massei. His parents had inspired him with the same devotion which they them- selves had towards this new saint, and the latter was not slow to recompense it. The day after his death, when the body was being carried to the grave, Blasio awoke as from a profound slumber, and said that St. Bemardine had restored him to life, in order to relate the wonders which the saint had shown him in the other world. We can easily understand the …More
"Blasio also spoke of Heaven, the last place into which he had been taken ; but he spoke almost like St. Paul, who, having been ravished to the third Heaven, whether with his body or without his body he knew not, there heard mysterious words which no mortal tongue could repeat. What most attracted the attention of the child was the immense multitude of angels that surrounded the throne of God, and the incomparable beauty of the blessed Virgin Mary, elevated above all the choirs of angels."
"In Hell, Blasio saw indescribable horrors, and the divers tortures by which the proud, the avaricious, the impure, and other sinners are tormented. Amongst them he recognised several whom he had seen during life, and he even witnessed the arrival of two who had just died, Buccerelli and Frascha. The latter was damned for having kept ill-gotten goods in his possession. The son of Frascha, struck by this revelation as by a thunderbolt, and knowing well the truth of the statement, hastened to make complete restitution ; and not content with this act of justice, that he might not expose himself to share one day the sad lot of his father, he distributed the rest of his fortune to the poor and embraced the monastic life."
Ukrainian soldiers report critical conditions on the front lines. A brigade commander claims his troops have gone months without rotation or regular supplies of water, food, and medicine. A group of Ukrainian soldiers took to social media to say they were forced to drink their own urine due to Kiev’s failure to rotate or provide them with supplies. The soldiers urged Ukraine’s recently appointed top general, Mikhail Drapaty, to intervene, claiming their immediate command ignored their pleas. The scandal erupted on Tuesday when the soldiers, claiming to be a fire support platoon with the 121st Territorial Defense Brigade, published their address on social media. The video features several men sitting inside a dark room, likely a basement, with the platoon commander, who identified himself as Anatoly Sischuk, reading out the address. Sischuk claimed that his platoon was in one position in Zaporozhye Region, Russia for nearly four months, despite their command initially promising the unit …More
A group of Ukrainian soldiers took to social media to say they were forced to drink their own urine due to Kiev’s failure to rotate or provide them with supplies. This is not the first time the Ukrainian soldiers had to drink their urine. But this time, they took to social media to complain. Letting the world know how they are treated. Some can "try" to suppress this sort of thing to prevent us from knowing. But sooner or later it's revealed for most to know.
