He has actually finally figured this out! Pope Leo XIV left Castel Gandolfo this evening, where he traditionally spent Tuesday. When journalists tried to ask him questions he replied “not today”

FSSPX Bishops' Coats of Arms: Lions, Wheat, a Swan, and a Lamb

Today, the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X has published the coats of arms and episcopal mottos of the four bishops to be ordained on Wednesday.
Fr Pascal Schreiber's Family Lions
Fr Pascal Schreiber has chosen the motto Virgo Fidelis ("Virgin Most Faithful"), one of the invocations from the Litany of Loreto. Episcopal mottos are usually drawn from the Bible or express the bishop's personal mission.
His coat of arms contains personal references. The two lions are taken from his family's coat of arms. Each holds a golden quill, a canting reference to the surname Schreiber ("scribe"). The colours black, red, and gold are a nod to his German homeland.
Fr Michael Goldade's Twelve Ears of Wheat
Fr Michael Goldade's motto, Adeamus cum fiducia ("Let us go with confidence"), comes from Hebrews 4:16.
The defining feature of his coat of arms is the twelve ears of wheat. Besides symbolizing the Eucharist, they recall North Dakota and Kansas, his places of origin and upbringing, also his …ເພີ່ມເຕີ່ມ

Iran is consistently inconsistent, contradicting the US at every turn: Negotiations are likely to be a long, difficult slog, and maximum patience is called for.

Iran is consistently inconsistent, contradicting the US at every turn

From the Iranian negotiations, a strong pattern has emerged: anything the U.S. says that they’ve agreed to, they deny. This has happened repeatedly, to the point where we have to ask ourselves why they reject our statements? Are our government officials misunderstanding them? Do Trump and Vance purposely misstate what has been agreed to? Or does Iran think that their defiance and disagreement give a picture of strength and victory for their side?
To demonstrate the frequency of these denials, let’s take them
one at a time:
Vance confirmed yesterday in a press statement that the United States had agreed to release some Iranian funds, provided there is progress in negotiations between the two sides. He added that the move would benefit American farmers and noted that the funds would be used to purchase American agricultural products. U.S. President Donald Trump likewise emphasized that Tehran would use the released funds to buy American goods.
Both Mohammad Bagher Ghalibafa and Iranian …

Report: Consistory Agenda Changed Because of FSSPX Consecrations

The proximity of the consistory (Friday and Saturday) to the FSSPX consecrations (Wednesday) has allegedly prompted Leo XIV to remove the liturgy from the consistory's agenda. This information was published by Nico Spuntoni on IlGiornale.it, who cited an anonymous cardinal as his source. Although "synodality" was already discussed in January, it has returned to the agenda.
Spuntoni adds three more pieces of information.
- Notable absences at the consistory due to ill health include conservative Cardinals Joseph Zen (Hong Kong), Péter Erdő (Budapest), and Willem Eijk (Utrecht).
- There is unease among the professed members and religious sisters of the Priestly Fraternity of St Pius X, who do not wish to risk incurring a possible excommunication.
- The consistory's agenda has not generally generated enthusiasm among cardinals. Some also dislike the Synod Secretariat's method of working in small groups.

Leo XIV Appoints German Bishop: "If Women’s Ordination Comes, Why Not?"

Today, Leo XIV appointed the rector of the seminary, Rev. Johannes Zehe, 62, as the new auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Hamburg, Germany.
Monsignor Zehe initially studied music in Berlin and worked as a violin teacher and orchestral musician before being ordained a priest in Hamburg in 1999.
Career Within Hamburg’s 🌈 Establishment
He owes his career to Hamburg’s Archbishop Stefan Heße who appointed him rector of the seminary in 2023 and has now evidently put him forward for appointment as auxiliary bishop.
However, Archbishop Heße of Hamburg is strongly pro-homosexual. Since June 2025, the archdiocese has been embroiled in a major controversy. Under the title “Male, Female, Diverse: Framework Concept for Sexual Education in the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Hamburg,” a 33-page document breaks with core Catholic teachings on sexuality and relationships.
Monsignor Zehe himself is not regarded as an internal opponent of the current direction.
However, his own online …ເພີ່ມເຕີ່ມ

German bishop: Reject Christ, why not?

Noname Senki

-----
"When asked about the invalid ordination of women, he responded vaguely that he could not really imagine it. However, he added: “If theology develops further, and if deeper explanations emerge that can be accepted worldwide, I would not lose my faith over it. I am not a great advocate of women priests. But if it were to happen - why not?’"
Dogma:
“3. The recipient of the sacrament of Holy Orders. Article. Only a baptized man may validly receive the sacrament of Holy Orders.”
What are we debating and reflecting on?

Nigeria: At Least 20 Killed in Fresh Attack

At least 20 Christians were killed in an overnight attack on the village of Kawel in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, central Nigeria, police said Monday. Among the victims were a doctor and five patients.
Police said heavily armed attackers opened fire on residents before setting homes ablaze.
Security forces responded and exchanged gunfire with the assailants, who fled the area. No arrests have been made. Local officials and witnesses identified the attackers as armed Fulani Muslim herders.
The latest attack is part of a series of deadly assaults that have plagued Plateau State in recent years. Several Christian advocacy organizations have argued that the repeated violence in Nigeria's Middle Belt disproportionately affects Christian communities and have called on the Nigerian government to provide greater protection.

During the time of the French Revolution, the revolutionaries tried to erase all public evidence of France’s monarchical past. All across the country, hundreds of statues and monuments of kings and royalty were removed or destroyed. In one particularly absurd episode, in October 1793 a Paris mob tied ropes around the 500-year-old statues of the biblical kings of Israel on the facade of the Notre Dame Cathedral, pulled them down, and beheaded them. In Paris alone over 1400 street names were changed (all that had been named for kings or saints). People who shared a name with a monarch or saint changed their name. They changed their children’s names. They changed the names of the chess pieces, to eliminate kings, queens, and bishops. They changed the names of playing cards—no more kings and queens. They even changed the name of the queen bee to the “laying bee.” Of course these zealots look ridiculous to us today, but in their zeal they had come to believe that allowing a statue of a …ເພີ່ມເຕີ່ມ

"Leo XIV Continues Francis' Program, Empowers Hardened Synodalists"

After the election of Leo XIV, Aldo Maria Valli wanted to believe in the new pope and in the possibility of a change of direction, he admitted on his blog on June 25. Valli was the longtime Vatican correspondent for Italy’s public broadcaster, RAI.
But: “The cold shower (or rather, a whole series of cold showers) quickly woke me from that dream in the form of statements fully in line with the Bergoglian disaster and a succession of ‘peace & love’ initiatives, marked by a shallow humanitarianism completely devoid of references to transcendence, sin, conversion, and the salvation of the soul.”
On the consistory on Friday and Saturday, he writes: “Under Leo XIV, the Church is not merely avoiding any reversal of course; it is enthusiastically reaffirming the synodal model, transforming it into a permanent method of ecclesial governance.”
Valli points to the names of the cardinals (Ryś, Fernández, Brislin, and Grech) chosen to lead the principal sessions. It is, he says, a gathering of …ເພີ່ມເຕີ່ມ

When Noticing Becomes the Crime | UK Reloaded

Arnie Hammer in Uwe Böll’s Citizen Vigilante.
Once again, the guardians of acceptable opinion have trained their fire on Uwe Boll’s Citizen Vigilante.
Todd Gilchrist in Variety and others of his stripe denounce the film as morally bankrupt; a crude piece of exploitation that dares to show migrant crime, official leniency, and the rage of ordinary people abandoned by the state. They attack the messenger and the medium rather than confront the reality the film dramatises. We are attacked, yet again, simply for noticing.
I wrote last week about the long assault on the working class by the meritocracy; that self-regarding cultural elite who imagine themselves above the consequences of their grand experiments. Nowhere is this intellectual snobbery more evident than in the failure of mass migration into Europe. For decades the authorities have tiptoed around the conduct of certain migrant populations with a racism of low expectations. They created a two-tier justice system that manages mobs …

Houston Volunteers Face Nearly $25,000 Fines For Feeding The Homeless

For more than 15 years, volunteers for Houston Food Not Bombs have served free vegetarian meals to the needy in front of the Houston Central Library. But that charity could cost them. Citing a city ban on sharing food with homeless people, Houston has in recent months issued at least 48 citations to volunteers. If those tickets are upheld in court, the volunteers could be forced to pay almost $25,000 in fines.
“Criminalizing the act of charity is a bad law and should never have been passed or enforced,” attorney Paul Kubosh, who is representing some of the volunteers in court, told the Houston Chronicle.

Spain's Bishops Appoint Adviser to Socialist Government to Lead Caritas

Worse than Germany: On June 24, the Spanish Bishops' Conference appointed economist Luis Ayala Cañón as the new president of Caritas Spain, the Church's largest charitable organization.
He previously served on the Spanish Government's Advisory Council for Health and Social Services, reports InfoVaticana.com. He was appointed by Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's administration in 2019.
Ayala has also collaborated with left-leaning organizations, including Fundación Alternativas, a think tank widely associated with the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE).
Spain's Socialist government under Sánchez enacted anti-Catholic policies, including legalizing euthanasia, expanding abortion, and advancing gender and homosex legislation.
In its announcement, the Spanish Bishops' Conference made no reference to Ayala's previous government role or political collaborations, highlighting only his academic credentials and expertise in economics and social policy.

The Road to Character by David Brooks Audiobook Full 1/2
David Brooks Audiobook Full on Jun 13, 2017 “I wrote this book not sure I could follow the road to character, but I wanted at least to know what the road looks like and how other people have trodden it.”—David Brooks
With the wisdom, humor, curiosity, and sharp insights that have brought millions of readers to his New York Times column and his previous bestsellers, David Brooks has consistently illuminated our daily lives in surprising and original ways. In The Social Animal, he explored the neuroscience of human connection and how we can flourish together. Now, in The Road to Character, he focuses on the deeper values that should inform our lives. Responding to what he calls the culture of the Big Me, which emphasizes external success, Brooks challenges us, and himself, to rebalance the scales between our “résumé virtues”—achieving wealth, fame, and status—and our “eulogy virtues,” those that exist at the core of our being …ເພີ່ມເຕີ່ມ

Cardinal Müller Criticizes German Bishops' Protestant View on Priesthood

On June 25, Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller commented on the Vatican's rejection of the German bishops' proposal to allow lay preaching during the Eucharist. Key excerpts:
- "One must not separate the Liturgy of the Word from the Eucharistic liturgy by having a layperson preach the first part and an ordained priest celebrate the second."
- "Luther already condemned this as an abuse, accusing priests and bishops of no longer being servants of the Word but mere ritualists."
- "The Council of Trent taught that sacramentally ordained priests were instituted by Christ as ministers of both the Word and the Sacraments."
- "One cannot arbitrarily divide priestly ministry and outsource parts of it without effectively denying the sacramental priesthood in a Protestant sense."
- "Ironically, those who most eagerly invoke Vatican II contradict it on the question of lay preaching during Mass."
- "Germany's perpetual protesters should study the foundations of Catholic theology instead of driving the …ເພີ່ມເຕີ່ມ
